Connecticut College encourages its students to study away or abroad. Numerous study abroad and study away programs offer outstanding environmental studies opportunities through our Office of Study Away: Australia, Belize, Peru, Norway and Costa Rica are just a few of the destinations you may consider. Students participate in many study-away programs, including ones associated with the School for Field Studies, the School for International Training and Sea Semester.
Connecticut College is also part of a consortium that participates in a semester-away program in environmental sciences at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, Mass. Offering an intensive immersion in ecological sciences that emphasizes hands-on laboratory and research experience, the program consists of an aquatic ecosystems course, a terrestrial ecosystems course, an elective, an independent research project and a science writing seminar. Through the Twelve College Exchange, Connecticut College students may study just minutes away from campus with the Maritime Studies Program of Williams College and Mystic Seaport, a one-semester interdisciplinary program of ocean and coastal studies.
Also, many science courses have field trip components.
